School

Well, school for Cash started off pretty much as I expected:

resistance and tears.  I literally had to drag him into his classroom the first day since he wouldn't even stand on his feet.  So my attempts at taking pictures were really lame. As you can see, we had tears before we even left the house that morning.

Then of course he wasn't at all happy to be there, to have to wear a uniform, to not be able to wear his beloved crocs....  And after I left him in tears, I got back into the car only to have to listen to the twins wail for 20 minutes about "Cashy" being gone.  It was really sweet that they were so sad to be without him. (Until day three of this when it still happens every time we drop him off and the charm is wearing off a little. :)

And being the lame first-time mother that I am, I should have thought to take a camera to school but I didn't. And it was so darn cute when he saw me through the gate that first day waiting outside for him while they were having play time - it was like he was so overcome with tears of joy to see me that the tears started all over again, but sort of in an I-can't-believe-you're-really-here! sort of overjoyed way that it was too funny for everyone watching as he walked toward me with open arms. It was quite priceless.  At least by the time we got home I could get a little smile out of him.

Day two he woke up and the first thing out of his mouth was, "I don't want to go to school."  Day three seemed a little better and he walked in and gave his teacher a hug and there were no tears, so we'll see how it goes.

I have thought a little that even though I don't consider Cash the difficult one of the three, it is nice to just have the twins sometimes. They seem to have a little less conflict without the older brother around, and well, at least I can fit a few groceries in a shopping cart without trying to stuff three kids in a cart plus groceries.

What a cutie. It has got to make you a little happy that he didn't want to leave you! Kind of a bittersweet moment in time. You will be so thankful that you have this blog and all of this photo documentation when the kids are older, and so will they. :)

Aww, Jen. I can't believe Cash is old enough for school. I'm sure he'll have a great time! And the twins will discover a whole new lifestyle, yet still have "Cashy" time, too.

Poor Cash. He'll start to love it soon I hope. And seriously, why don't they make shopping carts bigger?! It's really annoying.

What a great boy Cash is! I loved to see the pictures of him the very first week of school. He is really growing up, and I love him so much.

Wow, way to go Jen and Cash. What a big week. We start the whole school routine in a couple of weeks. Pretty crazy. I feel like we should all be together in med school with our little babies. Time is going so fast.

Im so glad by day 3 Cash is open to school. I have a feeling once he does all that fun preschool stuff he will be totally sold.
Good job Jen!

Does he go to Preschool everyday in Florida? Sophia is only doing 3X a week. But, she's become a regular veteran--she went all last year. Glad you found a program for him and the uniform is cute!!

So cute! Good luck. It is nicer to have kids in school so you can actually do things.I still have 2 at home but it much quieter.

Hope school is going better. If not, have you resorted to bribery? I've had to do that.

When Benjamin first started kindergarten, Katina walked him to the bus and kind of helped him up on the bus and he turned around and jumped off and ran down the block and being pregnant she couldn't really run after him so the bus went without him and he walked back crying. It took a while but the teachers are used to it and have a lot of good ideas, most of which involve some type of bribery (treat in the lunchbox) (picture of family to carry with him), notes from home, stuff like that...mostly treats. If I had all you cute people at my house I wouldn't want to leave either.... Love, Sharon

And then there was our neighbor, Ryan E., whose mother had to sit on the edge of the sandbox and WAIT while he was in morning kindergarten, and did that for more than a week! She was far more long-suffering than I would have been.

That first picture is SERIOUSLY hilarious. That's how Preston looked at me when he got OFF the bus on the first day. Luckily for us all it's getting better, right?

Your Cash sounds like my Jack in a lot of ways. School or soccer practice...he definitely is a home body and can cry about leaving his mommy. I agree it is nice to have them away at school for a bit.

I loved your comments about residency. It is sad so sad that I find solace in the fact that you and so many other women are suffering just as I am. Even better for you, you guys are on your way out of this mess soon! Which is reason to celebrate! And you have done all this with twins...?!?! (one of my reoccurring nightmares I must admit)

Chin up and I will work on mine too. Those freakin ER calls are killing me ;)
